The very last Tarpan passed away in a Ukrainian game preserve at Askania Nova in 1876. A primitive kind of wild horse, which once roamed from Southern France and Spain eastwards to central Russia, the Tarpan become extinct within the wild during the late 1800s. Causes of its extinquishing would be the wreckage of its forest and steppe environment to create room for humans; hunting by farmers saying their crops were being eaten and mares stolen; also assimilation inside a growing domestic horse populace. There have been numerous tries to replicate the Tarpan through re-breeding, producing horses that in fact look like their vanished forebears.
The Javan Tiger was a subspecies of tiger observed solely at the Indonesian island of Java, up to the point it become extinct somewhere in the 1980s. In early 19th century, the Javan Tiger was widespread throughout the island, but quick inhabitants increase resulted in the damage of its woodland environment. The Javan Tiger has also been mercilessly hunted, so by the 1950s less than 25 of them were left in the wild. Similar to the Bali Tiger, that has been vanished in the 1930s, the fate of the Javan Tiger talks for the risky situation of the tiger species in general. Sightings of the subspecies continue but hopes for its surviving are diminishing.
One more vanished equine beast - on this occasion a subspecies of zebra - the last wild Quagga was most likely killed at the end of the1870s, and then the last sample in captivity passed away in 1883 at Artis Magistra Zoo in Amsterdam. In the past plentiful in southern Africa, the Quagga became target to callous hunting for its meat and hide, and due to the fact that it was viewed by residents as a rival to livestock such as sheep etc. It's the coating of the Quagga that recognized it right, with merely the top section of its body displaying the zebra’s dazzling striped marks. Much like the Tarpan, initiatives to reproduce back the Quagga have generated good results, at least visually.
